Business Development Manager

This role focuses on the identification of sales leads, pitching good services to new prospects and maintaining a good working relationship with new contacts and clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). You will focus on acquisition, and on-boarding of new clients that never worked before with us. It is expected that you will travel and attend trade fairs representing the company and its values. You are the first point of contact for these clients and have responsibility for their performance and satisfaction in their first year of relationship.

Responsibilities

  • Research and present our company and product to a pipeline of new prospect delivering pre-agreed revenue targets annually and quarterly.  This includes gaining market intelligence and using this to beat the competition by giving suitable tours and ancillary products that are most suitable for the client and sales
  • Source new sales leads and contact clients by telephone/email in order to sell the company’s targeted Group/ FIT/ MICE solutions, pitching the best service that can be delivered
  • Build effective relationships with your clients in order to encourage new business by arranging and attending face-to-face client meetings for larger sales opportunities
  • Understanding the market and the competitive landscape and pressures, and working with the client to grow their business and our business with them, also by achieving Synergies Sales across the Tour Partner Group
  • Build a large and targeted new business pipeline by assuring an accurate forecast and follow up, understanding the classification of new prospects and business opportunities  
  • Understanding the clients’ sales cycle ensuring we are quoting for the right business at the right time in order to maximise our share of the clients’ overall business and to help grow the clients’ overall business
  • Creating attractive tour itineraries with your clients, in order to gain sales and a competitive advantage in the market. (Liaising with the client and colleagues internally and your line manager)
  • Ensuring price and margin of our offer is competitive and profitable, within the company's pricing guidelines
  • Following up with the client in a timely way to convert offers and quotes into profitable sales with client satisfaction
  • Liaising with internal departments/teams during and after the sale; liaising with your client as appropriate, and/or resolving client queries
  • Ensuring that the details of your portfolio of clients are effectively recorded in the company CRM and reporting systems

Required skills and experience

  • fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
  • Minimum of 2 years B2B sales experience working within the Leisure Tourism Industry
  • A network of potential client contacts is preferable and advantageous
  • being commercially aware, able/willing to sustain commercial professional relationships
  • being achievement focused, and sales driven ideally with a proven track record of Sales
  • being client focused, friendly and diplomatic,
  • strong positive communication skills; empathy
  • time management; ability to prioritise and manage yourself, work tasks, and client requirements

  • strong new business sales experience and a natural love of this
  • a  knowledge of our destinations Great Britain and Ireland, preferably Scandinavia also
