Explore beautiful castles and gardens on a 5 Day Themed Trip through South England along the Gourmet Garden Trail. A Highlight is the idyllic ride with the Kent & East Sussex Railway, where you can enjoy magnificent landscapes.

Day 1

Walmer Castle and Gardens or Dover Castle

Ferry crossing from Calais/Dunkirk to Dover. Depending on the time of your arrival you can kick off your trip along the Gourmet Garden Trails by visiting Walmer Castle and Gardens, which was frequently visited by the Queen Mother, to enjoy the beautiful gardens by the sea. Alternatively you also have the option to join a trip to Dover Castle, the largest and most significant defensive fortress in England.

For the duration of this trip you will be staying in the Kent area, including half-board.

Day 2

Godinton House and Gardens, Hole Park & Hush Heath Winery

Visit Godinton House & Gardens to learn about the 600-year-old history of the beautiful country house and discover the 12-hectar park area that surrounds it. Having witnessed hundreds of years of different garden fashions has made this landscape wonderfully unique. Take a break to relax and enjoy coffee and cake in these magical surroundings.  Drive on to explore the impressive gardens of Hole Park which are located in the county of Kent and were rewarded with the Garden of the Year Award in 2016. Finish the day by enjoying a wine tasting at Hush Heath Winery, where delicious wine and cider has been produced since 2010.

Day 3

Kent & East Sussex Railway

Continue your journey further along the Gourmet Garden Trail, pass the idyllic village of Rye and visit charming Herstmonceux Castle, a remembrance of Tudor England that will take you back to the past. Drive on to Bodiam and enjoy a panoramic ride with the Kent & East Sussex Railway to Tenterden, which impresses with some breathtaking views of the rural landscape along the way. Experience another one of the countries historic park areas, exploring England’s most popular themed garden: Sissinghurst Castle Garden.

Day 4

Leeds Castle & Penshurst Place and Gardens

Visit one of the most romantic attractions in England on your trip to Leeds Castle, which fascinates with its beautiful park area and gardens. Experience the magical atmosphere discovering the castle with its maze and grotto. Continue to Penshurst Place and Gardens to visit one of the country’s biggest and best-preserved manor houses. Enjoy a short shopping trip to Tunbridge Wells before you complete your day with a farewell dinner at the Boat House Bistro while enjoying the breathtaking view by the lake.

Day 5

Homeward journey

Homeward journey by ferry via Dover to Calais/Dunkirk
