In 2011 the Republic of Ireland cut the VAT rate on accommodation and meals from 13.5% to 9% to give the tourism sector a boost as the country suffered from a deep recession. Despite fierce lobbying, we are disappointed that the Irish Government has now made the decision to revert the VAT rate to 13.5% effective from 1 January 2019...

17th - Rugby Match: England v Japan

It will be only the second time that England and Japan have met in a rugby test match. The previous encounter came during a pool match at the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987, which England won handsomely by 60-7.

England and Australia have contested a total of 48 rugby test matches since their first meeting in 1909. England have won 22 of those matches, whilst Australia have won 25 matches. There has also been one drawn match between the two sides.
