Explore the best of South England on this highlights tour. See the beautiful Jurassic Coast and romantic New Forest National Park. Take an excursion to the Isle of Wight, which has many fascinating historic sites and gorgeous natural delights. Finally, experience the typical English flair by visiting picturesque fishing villages in Cornwall and Devon.

Day 1

The tour begins with a ferry crossing from Calais/Dunkirk to Dover. Depending on the arrival time, there is the possibility for a stopover in the seaside resort of Brighton.

Day 2

Take an excursion to the Isle of Wight by ferry, and upon arrival visit Osborne House, an Italian Renaissance style palace which was the favoured summer residence of Queen Victoria. Continue to Carisbrooke Castle, which has hundreds of years of history to explore. Before heading back to the mainland, discover Shanklin, a lovely seaside resort.

Day 3

Start the day with a visit to Stonehenge. The mysterious pre-historic stone circle is one of the world wonders, but its purpose still stumps scientists today. Continue to Salisbury to see the imposing Gothic cathedral, famous for having the tallest spire in Britain. Enjoy a walk round the medieval houses of the village before travelling to the maritime city of Portsmouth. While there, take the chance to explore the legendary HMS Victory, famous for its role in Nelson’s battle of Trafalgar, which is located in the Historic Dockyard. Return to the hotel through the romantic landscape of the New Forest National Park.

Day 4

In the morning visit Lulworth Cove, a fishing village classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. From there take a short walk to Durdle Door, a fascinating naturally formed limestone arch. Afterwards continue to the picturesque town of Exeter to see its magnificent medieval cathedral, which combines Gothic architecture and Norman-style towers to great effect.

Day 5

Travel through the scenic landscape of Cornwall, stopping at St. Michael’s Mount for a photo or two. The Mount is the Cornish counterpart of Mont Saint Michael in Normandy, France. Continue to the beautiful cliffs of Land’s End, the most south westerly point of the English mainland. End the day by strolling round St Ives, a quaint fishing village famous for its narrow streets and busy harbour.

Day 6

Start the day with a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway along the English Riviera from Paignton to Kingswear. Stop in Greenway and visit the estate where the famous writer Agatha Christie spent her holidays. Continue to the historic town of Dartmouth by ferry, before returning to the hotel via Totnes, a charming market village.

Day 7

Drive to the medieval town of Wells, well-known for its impressive cathedral, which contains one of the largest collections of stained glass windows in the country. Continue to Bath, often described as one of the most beautiful places in England because of its elegant Georgian houses and renowned Roman Baths.

Overnight stay including half-board in the Swindon area.

Day 8

On the final day in England, it will be possible to stopover at Windsor depending on departure time. Windsor is a beautiful historic town famous for its wonderful castle, which the Queen likes to spend many of her private weekends in. Continue your homeward journey by ferry from Dover to Calais/Dunkirk.

Garden of England

By spending an additional night in Kent it is possible to explore the medieval city of Canterbury, famous for its cathedral, the spiritual centre of the Anglican Church. Canterbury has been a popular place of pilgrimage since Thomas Beckett was murdered there. Afterwards visit Leeds Castle, one of the most romantic castles in England, and enjoy a walk through the 500 acres of beautiful parkland and formal gardens. Don’t miss out on trying to navigate to the very centre of the maze which consists of 2,400 yew trees.
