Visit historic cities such as Cardiff, the capital of Wales, Oxford, England’s oldest university town, Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare and royal Windsor. Moving away from urban environments, there is also plenty of beautiful countryside to enjoy including the Cotswolds and Brecon Beacons National Park. This great round tour covers it all: pretty gardens, historic castles and working distilleries.

Day 1

Take the Stena Line night ferry crossing from Hook of Holland to Harwich.

Day 2

On arrival in Harwich continue to Oxford, the oldest and most traditional university city in England. Afterwards visit Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, before continuing through the lovely countryside to Wales.

Day 3

Today’s day trip takes place in Cardiff, the lively capital of Wales. Enjoy a sightseeing tour which covers renowned attractions such as the Millennium Stadium and the beautifully regenerated Cardiff Bay. Afterwards visit the impressive Cardiff Castle in the city centre. In the afternoon explore the open-air museum St. Fagans National History Museum to get an insight into the Welsh lifestyle, history and culture. Alternatively travel to the Gower Peninsula and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Day 4

Visit the lovely market town of Stratford-upon-Avon and visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, the house where the renowned writer allegedly spent his childhood. Continue through the romantic countryside of the Cotswolds with its rolling hills, charming market towns and honey-coloured stone houses to the pretty Hidcote Manor Garden.

Day 5

The day starts with a day trip to the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park with its mountain range, moorlands, waterfalls and much more. Afterwards visit Penderyn Whisky Distillery where to gain insights into the history and traditions of whisky making in Wales. The distillery is the only one in the whole of Wales.

Day 6

Leave Wales and travel to the picturesque town of Windsor. Visit the stunning Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world and still an official residence of the Queen. In the afternoon explore RHS Garden Wisley where you can marvel at one of the largest plant collections in the world. Alternatively spend the day discovering London, the English capital, on a sightseeing tour.

Day 7

Begin the homeward journey by ferry from Dover to Calais/Dunkirk.
